Cicero Networks today announced that Velofone, a UK internet telephony service provider has selected CiceroPhone, Cicero’s award winning multimode softphone to power its new Velomobile wVoIP service. The Velomobile service is officially being unveiled at the Wireless Event in London today.
Targeted at the corporate / SME market and the international business traveller in particular, Velomobile delivers both wVoIP and Cellular services on a single mobile device so that users can automatically benefit from the lowest cost network to make and receive calls. For example, Velomobile subscribers with access to airport Wi-Fi hotspots will automatically be logged on so that their calls are routed over IP rather than a more expensive cellular network. With over 110 million business people using International Roaming services in the EU alone, Velomobile is positioned to significantly reduce communication costs for the business traveller.
“At Velofone we believe the most critical element in wVoIP service is the user experience and CiceroPhone ticks all of these boxes, offering a simple, intuitive user experience on both Nokia and Windows Mobile devices” said Mark Gordon, MD Velofone. “Many dual-mode devices today require the subscriber to select the network to use, we have created a solution to simplify this process so that the handset does that for them”.
“We are delighted that Velofone has selected CiceroPhone to enable their new Velomobile service”, said Ross Brennan, CEO Cicero Networks. “The international business traveller market is a real sweet spot for wVoIP services and one where dramatic cost savings for the end user can be achieved using wVoIP technology”.
Velofone has been trialling the service with a number of customers prior to launch, with very positive feedback. |
