Demand for SIP based FMC solutions is high, Cicero Networks has 35 trials with European Service Providers.
Cicero Networks, a leading provider of wVoIP solutions for Fixed Mobile Convergence, today announced that Hello, a Norwegian wireless service provider has selected Cicero’s solutions for its Hello onePhone service, to deliver fixed mobile convergence services to their business and residential customers. Hello is positioned as leader in the new generation of mobile broadband players, combining seamlessly 2/2.5 and 3G services with mobile VoIP technology.
In addition, Cicero announces significant activity among service providers for SIP-based convergence, with 35 active trials ongoing with European service providers including Tier 1 and Tier 2 incumbents, fixed-line telcos, cable operators, VoIP service providers and broadband service providers.
Commenting on the announcement Matthias Peter, COO of Hello said “The focus of Hello onePhone is to deliver ease-of-use and simplicity to our customers for both fixed and mobile services. Teaming up with Cicero Networks has enabled us to do this and to strengthen our position as a innovative mobile service provider. Using Cicero’s solutions our customers will have access to user-friendly, seamless and cost effective services in the fast growing footprint of new mobile access technologies such as Wi-Fi, 3G,and WiMAX”
“We are delighted that Hello has selected Cicero Networks solutions to launch their new wVoIP services,” said Ross Brennan, CEO Cicero Networks. “Hello is one of the new breed of operators who’s philosophy on convergence is all about delivering the benefits of both fixed and cellular services on a single device. We are seeing significant demand right across the service provider marketplace to enable true convergence of fixed and mobile services whereby the goal is more than fixed mobile substitution and using Wi-Fi to extend the cellular environment.”
The key drivers that Cicero Networks is seeing today for its SIP-based fixed mobile convergence solutions include the ability to reduce enterprise mobility costs by extending the reach of PBX using Wi-Fi, Cicero’s natural fit for future IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) migration and its ability to support seamless roaming between Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
In addition, Cicero’s minimal network impact accelerates time to market launch and enables service providers to leverage existing infrastructure investments. The ability to offer a single device, while at the same time supporting multiple numbers so that subscribers can keep their PBX extension and fixed-line home number, is also highly compelling.
