IMS capabilities of CiceroPhone makes it a clear choice for converged VoIP/cellular services
Cicero Networks, the leading provider of wVoIP solutions for fixed mobile convergence, today announced that Comfone AG, the leading provider of international cellular roaming services has selected CiceroPhone, dual-mode softphone, to power the Comfone wVoIP service which is being launched today.
Using CiceroPhone, Comfone enables operators to seamlessly deliver both voice and messaging services using wireless VoIP (wVoIP) and existing GSM networks. CiceroPhone’s IMS compliant features including SIM Authentication, support for public/private identities on 2G SIMs and multiple IP/Cellular handover methods (including client initiated and server (CCCF) initiated handover), further enhances its position as the world’s leading client-side solution for converged VoIP/cellular services.
“The unique aspect of Comfone’s wVoIP service is that it enables mobile operators to maintain their relationship with existing subscribers, and also attract new customers, as the telecoms market moves towards an era of convergence”, said Raphael Karlen, Senior Product Manager, Comfone.
“With Comfone wVoIP service, subscribers can take advantage of the most cost effective network for calls and messaging ”, said Lorcan Burke, Vice President Sales, Cicero Networks. “Its ability to offer a single device, single number based service for all calls, is a major step forward in the delivery of converged network services”.
The Comfone wVoIP service does not require any up-front investment or network adaptation for operators, so that time-to-market for these wVoIP services is significantly reduced, allowing the potential for substantial ‘first-mover’ advantage. CiceroPhone’s highly intuitive, integrated dialer intelligently routes calls over the best available networks – cellular or VoIP – depending on the location of the user. Regardless of the network choice, users maintain a single number and receive a single bill for both services.
