Cicero Networks wins Technical Innovation Award at the 2004 ISA Industry Awards

The Irish Software Association recognises Cicero Networks Voice over Wi-Fi solution as a key enabler of next generation wireless IP voice services.

Cicero Networks today announced that it has been awarded the 2004 Technical Innovation award by the Irish Software Association. Cicero Networks has developed an innovative Voice over Wireless IP solution which enables operators to deliver voice services over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and broadband networks.

The awards were announced at the ISA’s Annual Software Industry Awards ceremony on Friday 12th November, 2004.

By harnessing the power of Wi-Fi and VoIP, Cicero enables operators to deliver new value added voice services and thereby increase revenues, improve customer satisfaction and reduce churn. Using Cicero subscribers can make and receive calls within any Wi-Fi area - in the office at home or in any public hotspot - at a fraction of the cost of traditional cellular networks.

Cicero Networks offers fixed-line, cable and broadband service providers a means to quickly and cost effectively enter the wireless telecommunications arena with a wireless VoIP service.

“Cicero Networks identified a telecommunications opportunity with true disruptive potential by leveraging a combination of IP and unlicensed wireless technologies” said Kathryn Raleigh, Director of the Irish Software Association. “The company has spent over two years developing the intellectual property to turn that potential into a market reality. This is an excellent example of how Irish companies can succeed at the leading edge of technology innovation. We look forward to their continued success in the years ahead”.

“We are delighted to receive the ISA award for Technical Innovation” said Ross Brennan, CEO Cicero Networks, “This is truly an exciting time within the telecommunication industry and this award underscores our position at the forefront of the wireless VoIP revolution”

Cicero Networks was also recently named to the 2004 Pulver 100 list, the VoIP industry’s premiere listing of privately held growth companies that represent the future of the communications ecosystem.

The ISA Awards is one of the Irish software industry’s most prestigious events, where the winners of four awards - Company of the Year, New Company of the Year, Technical Innovation Award, and Sales and Marketing Innovation Award - are announced. Cicero Networks joins a highly acclaimed group of companies including Siebel Systems (Eontec), Cape Technologies, Haptec and Fineos as this years award winners.
