Cicero Networks Partners with Acme Packet to Secure OTT VoIP Services

Cicero integrates Acme Packet technology to provide greater security and service reachability for mobile VoIP services

Dublin, Ireland - 20th February, 2013

Cicero Networks www.ciceronetworks.com, a leading provider of mobile VoIP and fixed mobile convergence solutions, today announced that it has successfully integrated Acme Packet’s session border controller (SBC) with Tunnel Service Control Function (TSCF) technology into its mobile VoIP client applications. Acme Packet leverages TSCF, an emerging standard by the 3GPP, on its SBC to deliver end-to-end security, reliability and quality for OTT real-time communications.

While ubiquitous Wi-Fi and broadband access have made it much easier for operators to offer OTT services, challenges in terms of privacy, security and reliability on unmanaged networks remain. The combined solution of Cicero VoIP clients and Acme Packet technology provides operators with greater end-to end security and service reachability across strict firewalls and media redundancy for OTT VoIP services.

“For the last year we’ve been working with Cicero Networks to enable their mobile VoIP apps for our customers,” said Mark Vella, VP of Business Devlopment, Acme Packet. “Cicero’s clients are easy to use, highly mature and stable OTT VoIP applications for both Android and iOS devices.”

“We are very pleased to partner with Acme Packet to provide the highest level of security in unmanaged environments,” said Elaine Treacy, VP Sales & Marketing at Cicero Networks. “Now that we interoperate with Acme Packet’s solution, Cicero VoIP clients can provide operators with the security and confidence needed to launch OTT VoIP services.”

Acme Packet’s solution delivers end-to-end security for OTT real-time communications. With TSCF technology, Acme Packet creates tunnels to traverse strict firewalls and deliver unrestricted subscriber access to OTT services and feature 256–bit encryption for strong privacy, confidentiality, and integrity.  Acme Packet’s tunnel redundancy also ensures predictable, reliable media delivery for high-quality audio – even in “lossy” network environments – without requiring proprietary codecs.
